McGregor Fund President Kate Levin Markel recently appeared with Allandra Bulger, Executive Director of Co.act Detroit, a McGregor Fund grantee partner, on the Camelback Ventures “It’s Not Your Money” videocast.
Kate and Allandra joined Capital Collaborative Senior Advisor Jessamyn Shams-Lau for a conversation about “power dynamics between white funders and Black and Brown leaders of color who fundraise from them.”
From Kate: “Quality is not about checking boxes…it’s something you can feel and see. For us, there’s no point in requiring grant reports. [Instead], we hope to learn with our partners about what they’re learning. We’re very intentional…and appreciate that we’re taking time from other people’s learning. We commit to not keeping it to ourselves. We want to be a value-add for our partners.”
